The best supplement to Preply’s resources?

Let’s welcome teacher Jacqueline from the UK to share her experiences teaching with the Abridge Academy resources on Preply!

Can you give us a quick introduction?

My name’s Jacqueline, and I live in the UK with my family. I first began my career in the creative industries, before embracing the art of teaching.

I have been e-coaching (focusing on personal development and life coaching) for over 20 years and teaching English online for almost 6 years now. I started on contract and then as an independent teacher, advertising through my own website and on marketplaces.

How do you use the Abridge Academy lessons on Preply?

I teach on the Preply marketplace platform, where I continue to connect with new learners.

I decided to make use of the Abridge Academy resources because my learners had already completed the built-in lessons within the platform. These interactive resources have been received so well by my online learners over the past four months. Although they cannot interact directly, I’ve been able to share screen while supporting learners through each page.

Note from Abridge Academy: Our teaching materials are designed to be interactive and engaging – with lots of engaging activities they can click, move, or type directly on the slides. However, this requires an interactive teaching platform such as Koala Go. No worries though – on other platforms, you can still screen share the slides and ask students to use the annotation tools instead, for you to click / move / write on their behalf.

What feature of the Abridge Academy lessons particularly helped your students make progress?

I have found the lesson preview links really useful as pre-class preparation for learners. They provide a really great way for learners to gain some further confidence before class.

Are you looking for more fun online ESL teaching materials?

The Abridge Academy lessons are super interactive, with plenty of activities and games to keep your learners engaged in class. Our structured step-by-step curriculum covers all language areas, while supplementary courses (such as debating, topical reading, and academic writing) provide more focused extended practice.
