How was your experience on your teaching practicum?
It was truly a fun-filled and action-packed summer. Every day was a new experience – we had sports activities, flea markets and talent shows. We even had bonfires and cookouts!
The students were brilliant and picked up everything incredibly fast – lessons, games, dances, you name it. I loved having water fights with them and visiting museums alongside them.
Would you recommend doing a teaching practicum to a friend and why?
I learnt so much from my time and it will always be one of my most enriching experiences!
I really enjoyed my time and it made me so proud to see my students improve. I am forever grateful to Abridge Academy for my amazing experience!
How were the people you met at camp?
There were teachers and student volunteers who spoke English and helped us around the classroom, during events and even outside of campus.
I also had an amazing roommate and teaching partner who made every moment so much more memorable!
The students loved writing their names on my arms and when the summer camp came to an end we got to sign each others’ shirts and exchange letters.
What did you do in your spare time?
Outside of my classes, I explored the 798 Art District and met up with one of my Toronto friends at Sanlitun, which is a shopping mall/ plaza.
Other popular things to do outside of campus were going out to eat, shopping and karaoke!
The group also played lots of games like mafia and dead man walking, and hung out often in each others’ dorms.
