Located in a small city on the outskirts of Shanghai, HPBS Huzhou is a for-profit camp offering English language, culture and STEM classes for students. The majority of children are current students at the school, who would like to spend their summer further improving their language skills at an international-style academic camp. Many students are interested in studying abroad in the future, so the camp is also an opportunity for them to be inspired by role models from top universities abroad.
Camp teachers typically teach engaging English language and culture classes according to topics proposed by the school, while children can enjoy STEM classes and activities led by local teachers. The school also organises cultural activities and sports for children and teachers to enjoy together. Usually the school requires 5-10 teachers per summer.
Previous teachers particularly praised the excellent level of organisation of the camp, as well as the high quality facilities and accommodation provided by this modern private host school. They also enjoyed the Chinese cultural activities provided as well as several trips to nearby tourist sights.
HPBS Huzhou requires applicants to meet all of the following requirements:
- 120+ hour TEFL certificate or higher teaching qualification
- Passport from the UK or USA
- Current student or recent graduate from a G5 or Ivy League university
Important: Exact dates and details will vary each year!
Typically, teachers at HPBS Huzhou begin with a two day orientation program. This is followed by two ten-day camps over three weeks (an example camp schedule is below), with a couple of days break between each camp. During your days off, the school arranges trips for you to nearby tourist hotspots, for example nearby cities such as Shanghai or Nanxun water town.
